When a young girl is chosen to be a sacrifice by a worshipped pit in her backwoods community, she fights to survive even at the expense of those around her.
Staring into Holes month continues with indie heater, Jug Face. This movie tells the unique story of a backwoods community that worships a pit in a forest. Sometimes when wrongdoing is amidst, the pit will call for a sacrifice, which is the case for the protagonist, Ada. Her struggle for survival after being a chosen sacrifice by the supernatural force causes significant harm to her community. This is a bizarre film that we've seen before and although we're mixed on this movie, it's certainly interesting and paints a picture of what a modern yet uncivilized community looks like; especially when a young girl is facing challenges when growing up and learning more about her world. While ridiculous at times, the movie is well-written and acted for having such a small budget and is perfect for Staring into Holes month.
